Labioplasty is the surgical procedure to improve the aesthetic appearance of the labia majora (commonly known as the “large” labia) and the labia minora, which are situated beneath them. Labioplasty is the most common genital cosmetic procedure performed today.

Is it suitable for pregnant women?
• It is not performed during pregnancy.
• It is more suitable 3–6 months after childbirth, once the tissues have healed.
Consultation
• The size, shape, and elasticity of the labia minora are assessed.
• The patient's wishes are discussed: full reduction, shaping, correcting asymmetry, etc.
• The recovery period and the expected outcome are explained.
• Pre-operative instructions (hygiene, medication, menstrual period, etc.) are given.
The Surgical Procedure
* The procedure is usually performed under local anaesthetic, so the patient feels no pain.
* The operation takes approximately 30–60 minutes.
* The patient can go home on the same day.
Recovery Process
• Mild swelling, burning and discomfort for the first 3–5 days is normal.
• Using a special cushion when sitting provides comfort.
• Full recovery takes 3–6 weeks.
• Sexual intercourse is permitted after 6 weeks, and exercise after 4 weeks.
• The final result is usually fully apparent within 1–2 months.
