Lipofilling is a procedure where excess fat is taken from one part of the body and purified using special techniques, before being transferred to other areas.

A fat injection is one of the most widely used procedures in plastic surgery. This method is used to achieve a more youthful appearance for the face, fill in hollow cheeks, improve the shape of the buttocks, add volume to the breasts, or correct hollows in various parts of the body. The main advantage of lipofilling is that the material used is the patient's own fat. This means a more natural-looking and safer result. Over time, the fatty tissue also improves the quality of the skin.

Consultation

During the initial consultation, the doctor will listen carefully to your concerns, desires, and expectations, and will decide which areas of fat will be removed and where it will be transferred. If lipofilling is not entirely suitable for your situation, you will be informed beforehand and alternative procedures will be suggested. It is important to inform your doctor about any existing health conditions and the medication you are taking.

The Procedure

During the procedure, small (approximately 0.5 cm) incisions are made in the area from which the fat will be removed, and the fat is collected using special fine cannulas. After the collected fat has undergone special filtration and processing, it is injected in layers into the target areas with fine needles. The fat transfer procedure does not leave any additional dimples or scars.

The duration of the procedure depends on the number of areas being treated: it can take approximately 20–30 minutes if only the face is being treated, or up to an hour for larger areas such as the buttocks or breasts.

At the end of the procedure, you will have a corset on the areas from which the fat was taken. You must wear this corset for one month.

Recovery process

For 3–5 days after the procedure, you may experience mild pain, tenderness to the touch, swelling and bruising. These symptoms are normal and will gradually subside.

Swelling in the area where the fat was injected increases for 2–3 days and then begins to subside. Bruising in the areas from which the fat was removed usually disappears within 10 days.

You can have a shower after 5 days, and return to your daily routine after 5–7 days. Exercise is permitted after approximately 4 weeks.
